This article covers the process to add a product to the Outlet specific Shopify Website

  • A products template needs to be filled in containing the following
    • SKU code (at size level)
    • Web Description
    • Brand
    • Product Group
    • Image (usually more than 1 if possible)
  • Filter on the list to retrieve all products with 5 on-hand or higher
  • Filter on the description column and remove blank descriptions
  • This will become the primary list to maintain, but first validate this against all items already created in Shopify.  To do this:
    • Log into Shopify Admin and open the RSEA Safety Outlet website
    • Navigate to Products and then Export
    • Make sure "All Products" is selected, and then CSV
    • Do the necessary vlookups to identify items where the full product code already exists, or even just the style code

  • When ready to create items, do the following
  • Log into Shopify Admin and open the RSEA Safety Outlet website
  • Navigate to Products, and first search for the stock code using the full SKU
    • If the stock code exists, then just make sure that the Status is Active and that the inventory is correct
  • Assuming the full stock code doesn't exist, then check based on the style code (the first 8 digits
    • If the style code exists, then we just need to add that colour and size.  To do this
      • Open the product update and navigate down to Variant and click on "COLOUR" or "SIZE"
      • Under the Option Values, add in the new colour (Check Pronto or CMS to find colour name) and then click Done
      • Go to the Variant section below, tick the new colour and go to the 3 dots in the top right corner and select "Edit SKU"

      • Enter in the new SKU code in full (including size)

      • Click on the missing image next to the name to save the image
      • Finally, click Save up top
      • You might need to also make sure that the product is active.

  • If the style code doesn't exist then the item will need to be created in full.  To do this:
    • Click "Add Product" at the top of the Products Page
    • Add in the web description/title
    • Add in the content - This is currently retrieved from the RSEA website
    • Under "Media", add in all of the images - This is currently retrieved from the RSEA website
    • For the Category, make sure it is left blank
    • Leave all pricing blank, this will be picked up in the next sync
    • On the right hand side, for the "Type" select the appropriate type (e.g. CLOTHING, FOOTWEAR, PPE, etc.)
    • On the right hand side, for Vendor, type in the brand
    • On the right hand side, for Tags, select the various tags, selecting at least the following
      • Sale, New stock, products in stock
    • Keep Theme as Default Product
    • Make sure "Track Inventory" is selected
    • Make sure "This is a physical product" is ticked but keep Weight 0
    • Under Variants, add in the colour and sizes.  Note that these are case sensitive and need to match the following:
      • Adding in the colour variant:
        • Option Name = "COLOUR"
        • Option Values = <get the colour name from Pronto?
        • Save
      • Adding in the size variant
        • Option Name = "SIZE"
        • Option Values = These need to be valid sizes compared to other products.  For example, if it is a T-Shirt then it would be "Small", "4XL", etc.  Best to check another similar product to find the correct size terminology
    • Click Save up top
